Learn Wave Workshop

See where the controls are, follow a chart from symbol search through an Elliott hypothesis, and learn how to read screens and reports. The pictures below are labelled interface maps; their example prices are illustrative.

WAVE THEORY · A STARTING POINT

Read the waves.
Understand the ranking.

Elliott Wave is a way to describe how price advances and retraces at different scales. It is a hypothesis about structure—not a promise about the next move.

WITH THE LARGER TREND

Impulse: five waves

012345

Waves 1, 3 and 5 move with the trend. Waves 2 and 4 pull back. A bearish impulse has the same structure turned downward.

  • Wave 2 must preserve wave 1’s origin.
  • Wave 3 must exceed wave 1 and cannot be the shortest of 1, 3 and 5.
  • In a standard impulse, wave 4 does not overlap wave 1’s price territory.
AGAINST THE LARGER TREND

Correction: more than one shape

StartABC

A common correction is an A–B–C zigzag: A moves against the trend, B retraces, and C continues the correction. Its internal structure is usually 5–3–5.

Flats, triangles and combinations are other corrective forms. Three visible turns do not prove a zigzag; internal subdivisions and the larger-degree context still matter.

Illustrations only—not security prices, current wave counts or trade recommendations.

A convincing shape is not confirmation

Inspect observed pivots on completed candles, the parent trend, internal subdivisions, alternatives and invalidation. Fibonacci ratios are guidelines, not mandatory rules. The bounded standard-count search checks impulses and zigzags but does not recursively prove every internal subdivision; advanced drawing templates are not equivalent to verified counts.

DAILY RANKING · SIX TECHNICAL CHECKS

The ranking does not score Elliott patterns.

Daily ranking awards one point per passing check, for a score from 0 to 6. Each check has equal weight. It prioritises daily technical research; wave analysis is a separate review.

  1. 1

    Relative strength

The stock outperforms SPY over 60 trading sessions.

    +1
  2. 2

    Trend alignment

The close is above EMA 20, and EMA 20 is above EMA 50.

    +1
  3. 3

    MACD momentum

The MACD line is above its signal line and above zero.

    +1
  4. 4

    Near the yearly high

With at least 252 daily bars, the close is within 5% of the highest close in those bars.

    +1
  5. 5

    Strength + momentum

Both the relative-strength and MACD checks pass. This adds a separate point.

    +1
  6. 6

    Unusual volume

Volume is at least twice the average of the previous 20 sessions.

    +1
6 / 6Tier 1
4–5 / 6Tier 2
0–3 / 6Tier 3

When SPY’s market regime is not bullish, a Tier 1 result is capped at Tier 2; its numeric score does not change. Verified earnings within ten days are a risk warning, not a points deduction. Unavailable earnings dates stay unknown.

At least 65 valid daily bars and matching SPY comparison dates are needed. The near-high point additionally needs 252 bars. Missing data is not a zero-score investment judgement. Short-term relative strength, base tightness and fresh MACD-cross badges do not add points.

W3, W3? or W5 hints are provisional. They use a simplified swing heuristic and do not add points, prove a full Elliott count or qualify a trade. A 6/6 ranking is not a 100% probability.

01 / GET ORIENTED

Start here

  1. Open the chart workspace. Enter a symbol, choose its price source and timeframe, then load its candles.
  2. Check the symbol, timeframe, data date and whether the latest candle is complete. Pan or zoom to inspect the move.
  3. Use Choose start to explore provisional Elliott counts, or Draw waves to place your own anchors.
  4. Add an indicator or drawing, compare alternative counts and review the stated invalidation and data limits.
  5. Use Save for a dated chart snapshot, or open Screen watchlist to research several symbols.
Before relying on a result

A chart annotation, ranking or target is research evidence. Check its completed price bars, source, rules, opposing cases and current market price before making any decision.

02 / CHARTS

Chart workspace

Picture 1 · Chart controls. This is a labelled map of the interface; the plotted prices are illustrative. Use the numbered notes below to find each control.
  1. Symbol: enter a code such as MSFT.US and open it. Wait for the candles and source to load before reading signals.
  2. Timeframe: select 15m, 1h, 4h, D, W or M. The same move can look different at another interval.
  3. Drawing tools: choose a line, channel, rectangle or wave tool, then click its anchors on the chart.
  4. Chart and analysis: compare the plotted candles with the right-hand evidence, alternatives and invalidation.
  5. Save: store a dated snapshot once its symbol, candles and annotations match what you intended.
  6. VWAP: after choosing 4h, 1h or 15m, click the top toolbar switch to show the gold daily-reset line.

The main workspace offers 15-minute, 1-hour, 4-hour, Daily, Weekly and Monthly candles. Search for a symbol and select an available provider. You can move through history, zoom, fit the view, switch between linear and log scale, and open several chart tabs. Price history and provider coverage depend on the connected feed.

The chart toolbar includes drawing, waves, Fibonacci measurements, indicators, automatic guides, snapshots, import and help. The right panels show analysis and supporting context. A report link can open a symbol and timeframe directly; a live refresh may produce newer bars and different pivots than the dated report.

Bring your own data: the chart supports CSV import. Check the timestamp, timeframe and volume columns and keep the imported source labelled. Imported bars do not become verified exchange data simply because they appear on a chart.

03 / WAVE WORK

Elliott Waves and drawings

Picture 2 · Read a wave drawing. The solid path marks proposed observed pivots. The dashed path is a scenario, so 4? and 5? are not confirmed turns. The invalidation reference is a separate price test.

Read a count in three passes: first locate its observed anchors on completed candles; next check which endpoint and subdivision rules passed; finally look at the alternative count and the boundary that would reject this one. A target by itself does not confirm the count.

Choose start begins a bounded search from a candle you select. Inspect its alternative paths, observed anchors, projected points, degree and rule checks. Counts can change when new completed bars arrive. A projected endpoint is an assumption, while an observed pivot is part of the loaded history.

Draw waves lets you create and edit your own count. Select an anchor to adjust its candle or price, add subwaves where supported, and use snap or lock to control edits. The drawing tools also include lines, trend lines, channels and rectangles. Select a drawing to move its handles; use Delete, right-click or Manage drawings to remove it. Escape cancels an unfinished drawing.

Find Elliott 2–4 channel in the row above the chart, beside Show all and Clear all. It stays visible in the default compact layout. On a phone, use 2–4 guide in the top chart controls. First select an impulse count with observed waves 0–4. The dashed base joins waves 2 and 4, with parallel guides through waves 1 and 3. It needs matching completed candles and later confirmation bars. If the count is not ready, tap the control for the reason. The lines are read-only visual references, not a wave 5 target or a confirmed trade; tap again to hide them.

Fibonacci retracement takes two anchors and extension takes three. Choose ratios in Fib levels. Auto levels & patterns can draw candidate support, resistance, channels and classical patterns. Dashed structures are possibilities, not confirmed trades. Screening counts cover a narrower set of Elliott forms than the editor's drawing tools.

04 / INDICATORS

Indicators, including daily VWAP

Find VWAP in the WorkshopOpen a chart → choose 4h (or 1h / 15m) in the top timeframe menu → click VWAP in the top toolbar. Click again to hide it. The same switch is above the chart and in Chart display options.
Picture 3 · Daily VWAP across several days. The yellow value changes after each completed 4-hour candle. The calculation starts again on day 2; the faint jump shows the reset, not a trade at that connecting price.

Show volume, volume profile, moving averages, MACD or RSI to add context. A moving average uses past closes; MACD compares exponential averages; RSI summarizes the balance of recent gains and losses. Each depends on sufficient completed history. The visible-range volume profile estimates activity from candle ranges rather than individual trades.

How VWAP works here

VWAP means volume-weighted average price. For each completed intraday candle, Workshop estimates its price as (high + low + close) / 3, multiplies that by the candle's volume, and divides the running total by running volume. The line updates after every completed candle and starts over at the next UTC day.

You will see the daily VWAP path across all loaded days, including a jump where one day's calculation ends and the next starts. On a multi-day 4-hour view, each day therefore has its own changing VWAP. Missing or zero volume interrupts that day's path. If you are viewing D, W or M, the toolbar tells you to choose an intraday timeframe first; a one-day bar would leave only one value per reset.

VWAP precision

This is an estimate from OHLCV candles, not a calculation from every exchange trade. The reset is at UTC midnight; a market whose trading session crosses that boundary may use a different reset in other chart software.

05 / FIND SYMBOLS

Screen a watchlist

Picture 4 · Screening flow. Choose the input and method, run the screen, then select a row to read its evidence. These example rows are placeholders and are not live rankings.
  1. Choose a built-in list or enter your own symbol codes.
  2. Select Original Workshop or Jean-Marc's experimental US-stock method and check the timeframe.
  3. Press Screen; the progress line shows completed symbols and data requests.
  4. Select a watchlist row, including rows showing errors, before deciding whether data coverage is sufficient.
  5. Read the selected symbol's completed-bar date, indicator evidence, pattern checks, alternatives and blockers; use Open editable chart to inspect it visually.

In Screen watchlist, choose a built-in list or enter native EODHD codes such as MSFT.US. Choose 1-hour, 4-hour or Daily bars, the session setting and a wave method, then press Screen. The Original Workshop method searches provisional wave alternatives. The experimental Jean-Marc method adds a Weekly → Daily → 4H hierarchy and applies to US regular-session symbols on 4-hour bars. For ETFs, open the 15-fund ETF screening list, run the full list or select a fund to open its individual 4H chart.

Each symbol's result can show Elliott alternatives, classical patterns, SMA distance, RSI, MACD, regular divergence, a conditional target, invalidation and reference risk/reward where valid. A forming pattern still needs its trigger; a confirmed pattern can later expire or invalidate. Rankings are research heuristics, not probabilities or orders. Open a result in the chart editor to adjust its count.

Create a named list with Save as new list; up to 20 lists of 100 symbols each live on this browser/device. Export report and Reopen report move a saved screen as JSON. Export table CSV creates a flat summary. You can also import already aggregated 4-hour OHLC data. Provider requests may use EODHD allowance; old intraday prices may be delayed and raw prices may reflect stock splits.

06 / SETUP REVIEW

Trade setups

Trade setups checks stricter pattern geometry and supporting Weekly, Daily and SPY context. Choose symbols, load their reviews, then inspect the active or rejected patterns. Cards explain the trigger, buffered stop, pattern invalidation, target, net reference risk/reward, rule checks and blockers. You can open the chosen scenario in the chart editor.

Save report snapshot retains the exact candles, rules and evidence for a shareable dated review; a new scan is a separate action. JSON export is available. A technical trigger still needs its stated entry conditions. Reference prices and the paper cost model do not establish an actual fill or a verified Elliott subdivision.

07 / CONTEXT

Research and agent reviews

The chart's Fundamentals & news panel loads company context on demand when the provider supports it. Its financial ratios can combine reported fundamentals with historical prices; inspect their dates. The Agent reviews page separates Alex's technical view, Maya's news view and Sam's risk view. Existing pilot reviews are bound to dated evidence. An available chat requires approved access and service configuration; opening the page alone does not refresh market data or perform a new review.

Ask Alex about this chart can capture the current chart and send it for a provisional explanation when the protected service is available. Update the snapshot after changing the chart. AI commentary should be checked against the displayed bars, method and known data limits.

08 / PUBLISHED VIEWS

Reports and other pages

Picture 5 · What to check in a report. Read its date and data cutoff first. A chart opened later can show newer bars than the published report; a public report page alone does not verify email delivery.
  • Newsletter archive: open published, dated editions and their report charts. Check the date and content; a public page does not prove email delivery.
  • Daily ranking: compare dated research scores and open candidate charts. Scores are screening priorities, not trades.
  • Sector ETF monitor: compare all eleven S&P 500 sectors with SPY using dated daily prices, relative strength, indicative turnover and completed 4H technical checks. Gold, broad commodities and oil appear separately. Sam's portfolio selection limits and evidence rules are on that page.
  • Paper account: a readable historical paper ledger through 21 September 2026. Figures on that page are frozen, not live orders or live P&L.
  • Crypto list: a dated top-25 list with 24/7 UTC screening links where EODHD mappings are verified. Some symbols have no verified mapping; linked data may still fail.
  • Sample briefing: an illustrative sample, not a current trading edition.

09 / KEEP YOUR WORK

Saving, alerts and access

On the chart, Save stores its candles, wave scenarios, Fibonacci measurements and manual drawings. Open restores the snapshot; Replace updates it, while Save as new keeps another copy. Anyone with the link can view charts and read-only market data. Cloud saves and other personal features require approved Workshop access.

Chart price alerts need the relevant chart/live quote to be active and browser notification permission where applicable. They are not an unattended email or client-delivery service. To verify a newsletter, check the dated report itself and the actual sent message and recipient evidence.

10 / TROUBLESHOOTING

Common questions

Why did a wave count change?
New completed candles or a different timeframe/source can change confirmed pivots and provisional alternatives. Open a saved snapshot to compare against the older evidence.
Why is VWAP missing or different?
VWAP needs completed intraday bars with positive volume. Workshop resets at UTC midnight and estimates price from each candle; another provider or a local exchange-session reset can produce a different line.
Why is a screen blank or stale?
Check the symbol code, source coverage, completion date, provider error and allowance. The screen is user-triggered and its cache can age; it does not continuously rescan.
Why can't I open or save a chart?
Visit Access to check sign-in and approval. A new device also lacks lists stored only in the original browser; export and reopen them to transfer.
